Here’s another poem I wrote. It’s called “See You Soon.” I like it, maybe you will too:
See You Soon
It was early morning, I was in my car Driving around, listening to tunes Windows down, feeling the breeze, enjoying the view The fog swirls up from the ground, parting to let me through It was like someone out there knew I was on my way to see you soon In no hurry, I took the longest route All the lights were green as I drove through Gliding along, watching the trees, looking at leaves Orange, red, yellow, and some brown ones, too It all looked the way autumn is supposed to I was on my way to see you soon All the laughs we've had together The dances swayed between us two The drinks that filled our summers The memories we've forgotten to hold onto Midnight rides to some late night rendezvous It's another Sunday morning and I was on my way to see you, see you soon There's that roadside bar if you don't go too far Past the county line where cops try to speed trap you Listened to the barflies talk about the girls of their misspent youth So glad you're not a ghost I tell tales about To some drunk strangers who never knew I was on my way to see you, see you soon The hill was steep, so I hit the gas Trying to coax my ride for one last gasp Through the stress of heightened altitude Once I get to the top I can coast down the other side Rolling fast I just laugh, life's such a blast I was on my way to see you, see you soon All the laughs we've had together The dances swayed between us two The drinks that filled our summers The memories we've forgotten to hold onto Midnight rides to some late night rendezvous It was another Sunday morning and I was on my way to see you, see you soon On my way to see you, see you soon
This was the song in my head while writing. I find it easier to try to write to a tune, at least at the beginning of writing something new. It’s a good song. I like it.
